Large Corporates
In 2004 Cullen Financial Planning Limited were appointed to administer the Group Personal Pension plan for an IT company employing 500 people across five locations over the North of England.
The employer contributed generously to the Group Personal Pension plan and provided ancillary employee benefits such as death in service. At the time of their employment they were uncertain that employees properly valued or understood the benefits that they provided. In addition, problems with the scheme provider meant that an extortionate amount of internal administration time was being invested to properly oversee the scheme.
Cullen Financial Planning Limited entered into a five year agreement, with the explicit brief to provide guaranteed service standards that would increase significantly the employees perception and value of the benefits provided and at the same time reducing the level of administrative support required by the company.
An initial programme of one to one meetings with all scheme members was commenced and it was quickly identified through our own research and feedback provided by employees that major reservations existed over the charging structure, investment performance and administrative capability of the originally selected scheme provider.
This in turn led to a detailed analysis and report to the company’s Board of Directors with the decision taken ultimately to change providers.
A programme is now in place which has encompassed a road show of group presentations run by ourselves to the scheme membership across all offices explaining the reasons behind the change in scheme provider and the benefits that this would bring to them. Charges have been cut by 33%, a significantly enhanced range of better performing investment products will be available and the reduced level of administration burden is already being seen as the change progresses.
The programme of one to one meetings has significantly raised the profile of the company’s pension scheme amongst the membership raising awareness of the very generous benefits that are provided by the employer. A large number of the membership are also taking the opportunity to take advice on other financial planning matters through these one to one meetings and this has proved to be a further area of benefit to the employer in terms of their willingness to have opened up access to a quality IFA for their clients.
